Michael Richardson received his PhD from the Writing & Society Research Centre at the University of Western Sydney. His research interests include affect, trauma, torture and political violence, and surveillance. He teaches writing, literature and affect theory at the University of Western Sydney. He is the co-editor of the collection Traumatic Affect (2013) and his academic research has appeared in TEXT, New Writing: The International Journal for the Theory and Practice of Creative Writing, and The Journal of Literature and Trauma Studies, among other places.
A former speechwriter, he has also published political commentary, book reviews, and short stories. He is currently completing the manuscript of his first novel.
